Project Overview
This project involved a small bathroom in a 1970s detached home in Dalhousie, NW Calgary. The layout measured approximately 5×8 feet and remained unchanged to control plumbing costs.
The primary goal was improving usability and correcting moisture-related concerns without expanding the footprint.

Existing Conditions
During the site review, several typical issues were identified:
- Minor subfloor softness near the tub
- Aging sealant around the bathtub
- Undersized exhaust fan
- Limited storage
- Dated floor finishes
The plumbing lines remained functional and did not require relocation.

Scope of Work
The renovation focused on system corrections and layout efficiency:
Plumbing rough-ins were left in place to avoid unnecessary cost escalation.
Outcome
The final layout feels more functional despite the unchanged footprint. Improved ventilation performance has reduced post-shower humidity retention.
This project reflects how small bathroom upgrades in Calgary can prioritize waterproofing and airflow before decorative changes.
